Haven's humor in the situation was typical, but not unwanted. It was something that Dreth enjoyed about her, her ability to make light of such heavy topics. Not that this topic was a burden, but it was definitely a deep one.
Her words were soothing, nearly lulling him to sleep. Until the part where she brought up his employers. The words he had so recently spoken to Amentius were ringing in his ears, making this happy moment out to be a very serious one. No debt to Sithis went unpaid, no promise unforgotten. He would have to serve his time, one way or another, and if the order of the Scar learned of his dealings with a werewolf, he would be tortured, maimed, and then killed when it was his only last salvation.
As it was, he would be punished for allowing Amentius, whom he assumed was long gone from the city by now, to get away due to his own selfishness. Dreth could handle such matters, though. The idea of being Haven's lover was a much more inviting one for the moment. Perhaps he could allow himself this one night of peace before worrying about the consequences of it.
"I would," Dreth replied to Haven's offer of staying in the garden, "but I suspect that the sun would be offended at my presence in the morning. And I would very much like to spend the night with you elsewhere." He wrapped his arms around her as she leaned into him, reveling in the feel of her closeness, despite what the monster inside of him thought. "Lead the way, Haven Raif."
