The Bosmer winced. She hadn't wanted Thanatos to asked this question. But she perked up at the sound of the second question, and began to count mentally. Frowning, she said,
"There was that Khajiit crimelord Rish-somethingorother...and the ministrel or something from Cheydinhal...And a merchant from the Bravil Sanctuary...And the necromancer guy..."
She threw up her hands, exparated. "Look, I can't remember them all, but Jiub still keeps me as a Murderer for some reason!" She folded her arms, and kicked at the ground, looking quite sulky. It wasn't what one would expect from a member of the Dark Brotherhood, but then and again, Ralen could hardly be counted as 'normal'.

As Ralen was counting in her head I became slightly distracted because I remembered seeing and unfinished contract in Jiub's desk. Perhaps I should have Ralen do the contract while I go and 'chat' with the Count of Anvil.
"Ralen, don't worry I won't hold it against you for being a Murderer still. You have told me of four souls sent to our Dread Father. That's good, because I found one incomplete contract in Jiub's desk and, if your willing to complete it for me I will promote you upon your return. Do we have an accord?"

The little Bosmer nodded eagerly, once again fidgeting. "Sure. Is it in Chorrol? I've got an errand to run there." It was for Speaker M'aiq, of course. She still hadn't completed his contract. And neither had she bought that bottle of Skooma she promised herself she would buy.
"Say, am I allowed to drink Skooma here? Or keep a pet cat?" Ralen asked. They were two things Speaker Jiub had never allowed her to do. Perhaps coming to Anvil was a bad choice. Speaker M'aiq was odd, but at least he allowed her to drink Skooma.

I smiled when she said she would do it. That was great but, when she ask if she could bring in a pet cat and drink skooma in the sanctuary it made me think. "I don't mind if you drink skooma in the sanctuary. Just make sure the bottles are gone once you’re done with them and, when it comes to the cat I say no. I say this because I have a sensitive nose to them." Once I told her that I tried to remember what the contract then I just remembered I had written it down so I just pulled it slip of parchment from my pouch and handed it to Ralen. Thw writting on the parchment was: The death of a mage. This actually takes place in Chorrol. It seems the Mages Guild leader has become interested in 'other' things rather than magic. A fellow mage had placed the hit upon his head. The other thing he has become interested in is selling the guild's scrolls and potions to Cyrodiil's Black Market and keeping the profit for himself. The guild hall leader's name is Tenavila(Ten-av-i-la), he can be found in the guild hall or in his quarters on the second floor. To earn a bonus on this contract you must make his death look like a accident. Award: 450 Septims and the advacment to Slayer rank. Bonus: "This is the contract Ralen and, I expect it to be carried out soon. Oh, and good luck on the contract and, may Sithis guide you." I remembered she was going to the Mages Guild in Chorrol and I just remembered she'll need a key to get to the upper story of the building. "Oh, Ralen before you leave take this key. It will allow you to go to the upper stories of the Mages Guild hall. Keep it if you wish, for I have others." Then I pulled the key from my pouch and handed her the Mages key.

Ralen looked dissapointed. "No cat? Ah well." Almost immediately, she perked up again. "What about a dog?"
She took the parchment, reading through it and pondering on the words. She never much understood writing and reading, which was possibly another reason Jiub found her reports so hard to read.
"Oh, good, Slayer rank finally!" The Bosmer exclaimed, once she finally got to the end of it.
She took the key, and stood up, stretching. "I'll be off then. Se eyou in a few days. Or maybe weeks. I've got some shopping to do in Cheydinhal."
The excited little Bosmer pranced away, just as another, much less cheerful, Bosmer entered, shooting Ralen a stern glare, which the younger Bosmer promptly ignored.
Silence took Ralen's vacanted seat. "How are things going?"

After Ralen left another Bosmer took her place in the seat beside me. I however at the time was looking down and, staring at my clothing blankly. Until I heard her ask me an question. So, I looked up and to my surprise is was none other than Speaker Silence.
"Hello, honoured Speaker of Cheydinhal. Things have been slow recently sence the disappearence of Speaker Jiub but, thus far so far so good."

Slender hands reached up to pull the dark hood away from her face. Silence regarded Thanatos carefully, her green eyes blazing. After a moment, she said, "Kindly please do not call me 'Honoured Speaker'. Just Speaker or Silence will be fine."
The Bosmer never liked titles. In fact, she hated them.
The sounds of merry whistling floated down the hall, and Silence winced. It seemed that Ralen hadn't changed. The Bosmer would be pleased if Ralen accidentally got herself killed. She wondered why Sithis had invited that one to join the Dark Brotherhood in the first place.

I was rather surprised that she didn't like like being called by her respected title. I guess everyone has their reasons for not wanting a title even though they well deserve it.
"Sorry Silence, it's just I wasn't expecting a visit from you...As you can well see the sanctuary is in complete shambles."

Silence cast a glance around the Sanctuary. "Yes, I can see that." She said drily. It wasn't his fault. Normally she would complain about handing the control of a Sanctuary over to someone who wasn't even a Silencer, but times were desperate. At least he couldn't be worse than that M'aiq the Liar or whatever the Khajiit's name was. She had protested quite strongly about that, but then and again, he was Shady's Silencer...

((And it's a time warp again! Sorry for double-posting, but it looks a bit clearer this way. *ahem*))
A few days later, possibly a week, Ralen flounced back into the Sanctuary, a huge grin on her face. The poor Dunmer who got bullied by a certain vampire then almost talked to death by the little Bosmer hastily got out of her way. The only other person in the Sanctuary, a feline that looked suspiciously like Silence's cat Shade, seemed to shake his head and dissapeared.
Ralen took no notice of the cat, although she wondered briefly why there was a cat here when Jiub had expressedly forbidden any pets. Oh well. Things were becoming stranger nowadays. It wasn't her business.
She entered Thanatos's study/bedroom/whachmacallsit, waving her report.
"The guy you sent me to kill's dead!" She hollered, seeming to be performing a strange kind of frenzied dance.

It was an odd conversation that Speaker Silence and I had...She always seemed to be looking over her shoulder for so odd reason or another. We had talked about the sanctuary's future for the most part.
I was in my quarters reading a letter that was sent to me from my mother back in Mournhold. As I was reading it I found out something very disgusting. My brother is here in Cyrodiil! I also discovered that he is a member of the Imperial Legion, my mother always told me everything about Gaberial.
When I was near the end of the letter Ralen walked into my quarters with out a knock and said that she killed the mage while waving the report in her hands. I then looked at her and took the report from her so I could read it about the details and what-not.
"Very good Ralen...You've done well for the Dark Brotherhood and, it's time for a award. Ralen I know name you Slayer of the Dark Brotherhood and, here is you gold as well." I said as I handed her the bag of gold that was sitting on my desk.
"Now for your bonus..."
Then I placed my letter on my desk and stood. I then walked over to a chest that was in a corner and, pulled out an enchanted Elven dagger.
"Here take this...It's called Arcane drain. Once the target of you choice is struck with this blade they become paralyized and then the blade drains them of their Magicka."

Ralen inspected the dagger, frowning. She sighed. It probably wouldn't be of much use to her, as she rarely killed with a dagger. Of course, she could always stab a rat or two with it...Maybe even a mud crab, although she prefered bashing them with a mace or something. Ralen shrugged.
"Say, do crabs and rats have Magicka?" She asked curiously. It was something she had always wanted to know, although the question seems to slip away from her mind every time she met someone capable of answering it...

After Ralen had asked me that question I looked at her for a moment before answering her question.
"Ralen...Rats and Crabs don't have magicka otherwise we would be finding more people being killed by them...Now, that is the only contract I have found in the sanctuary so, go Speak with Speaker M'aiq in the mean time...Oh, and while your there in Leyawiin try to figure out who the Legion commander is there, eh." I said with a wink of an eye.

"Eh, isn't it a bit obvious who the commander is? I would've thought that a high-ranking Speaker such as you would know, Thanatos..." Ralen trailed off uncertainly. The obvious had obviously not occured to her yet. But at least she had permission to go to the Leyawiin Sanctuary. She liked M'aiq. Or at least, Ralen liked his Skooma. She wondered if she could plea to the Night Mother to be allowed to keep a nice fluffy kitten. Ralen liked kittens.
Well, actually, Ralen liked a lot of things.

I was wondering to myself to see if I had any idea who the commander of that region...Even after a moment of pondering to myself in almost complete silence I was still unable to figure out who the commander was.
"Ralen, to me it isn't obvious who the commander is. Perhaps you can enlighten me on who the commander is. Considering you know and I do not."
Then again it would be easier just to meet the commander face to face and try to gain influence over him/her. Maybe just maybe Ralen might be interested in going with me.
"Ralen, would you mind going with me to Leyawiin? It would do me much honor if you did." I said with a slight bow at my waist.
