Shadow. stalked the night, silently and swiftly; just as he'd been taught by the great Listener.. The Listener who had made him kill so often and without regret. His eyes burned with a strange occurrence that had been happening more and more lately, as if they were bleeding, but with clear liquid. It was a very odd thing, he'd never felt it before and was sure there was something wrong with him. It got worse and more painful as his mind slipped back to the times of the Dark Brotherhood and all the people he'd left behind. There were some, he had missed and others he still hated; none he could ever bear seeing again.
He pushed the thought hastily to the back of his mind, he had been given his orders and that was that; apparently, a group of wanna-be-famous thieves were planning a break-in to White Gold tower but not to steal anything. Sources had revealed that they planned on leaving behind a memento or of a similar sorts. It was merely to try and say that the Imperial Legion weren't doing their jobs. Shadow. didn't like this; he always prided himself on getting a job done and this would be no different. If anyone or anything came within 100 meters of the Tower, Shadow. would know. Then, the intruders would know; Very. Damn. Fast. Shadow. had been given orders to capture and restrain, by any means necessary, he had no intention of killing or wounding them too badly, a simple arrow to the thigh would incapacitate anyone really.
His eyes sifted through the clearing, scanning the ground below for any kind of movement that would betray a location of a person or possibly a decoy. His mind had just processed this and his pinpoint eyes spotted a sudden change in the scenery, it took no longer then
3 seconds to figure out what had happened, and just as he feared: A decoy. A small wooden toy or so it appeared, like a childs doll; It had obviously been thrown there to try and draw attention to it, and take attention from any other place. Moving as little as possible, he shifted right round, to get a look at the space behind him, just as a window closed on the third floor of the tower. Bingo., thought Shadow. as he moved in on the tower with quickening speed. He reached the doors in no time and threw them open, the guards inside thrown off balance, they noticed who it was right away and immediately realized something must be wrong. They started calling up the rest of the guard as Shadow. moved for the main chamber, with the guards busying themselves around the spiraling staircases, Shadow made his way up to the top of the chamber. Lets just say he's climbed, a lot. As he hoisted himself over the rail, 4 vagabonds stood before him, looking dumbfounded and overall, terrified. They dropped everything they had in their hands and didn't move, at all. Shadow. walked slowly over to them, and rested one hand on the shoulder of the third person in; he fell to the ground instantly. He repeated this with the other 3 thieves, whom seemed to be transfixed, unable to move. Maybe it was the deathly aura Shadow. had around him, maybe they recognized him? Who knew? He left them lying on the ground and walked out through the doors, took the stairs down and muttered to a passing Legionnaire that he had taken care of the miscreants. The guard looked surprised but headed right off, grabbing a few other people on the way. By the time they had apprehended them and came back, Shadow. was gone; and no one claimed to have seen him leave.
After everything had been sorted out, the thieves jailed and the premises checked, they discovered something quite.. Sickening. The Imperial Library, had been broken into, and several documents had been stolen. The overall synopsis: the 4 thieves were the decoy. It had been planned so well by whomever it was, but they had won, and it would be difficult to find the criminal.
Or would it?
