((I'm playing in 1st person if you don't mind and, this is open to anyone.))
It was early in the morning when I stepped into the city of Leyawin. Early enough you could still see the sun slowly rising over the horizon. The city was truly beautiful in strange light until you found what the countess was doing in ‘secrete’. I was enjoying my walk through the city streets until I reached my destination of the old ‘Blackwood Company Hall’. I stepped inside to find the place…Not deserted and, I was told that this place was vacant. Until I decided to walk downstairs that is…

(First person's alright with me.)
Sitting at his desk, M'aiq was writing out a letter to a Khajiit pal of his.
Deer frend, How ar yu? Khajiit is gud. He...
M'aiq's left ear twitched as he heard a sound somewhere upstairs. His feline eyes flicked about the room briefly, scanning for anyone unwelcome. With the exception of the two drunkenly unconscious Golden Saints, there was no one else in the sanctuary.
The Khajiit shrugged and continued on with his letter, assuming the sound to be that of a rat.
...is apperantly heering thengs...

I descended the stairs slowly taking my time to look around as I walked down. Until I saw a Khajiit at a desk and, they seemed to be writing. Not sure who this khajiit is I took my mages staff from my back and made it act as a walking stick. I stopped half-way down the stairs to see the rest of the basement and besides the Khajiit at the desk. The room was dark and I couldn’t see anything except for the khajiit. So I spoke to see if friend or foe.
“Hello, friend I hope I’m not intruding? It’s just I was told this building was deserted with no inhabitants at all and, here you are. If I may explain my self I was looking for my ‘Family’ and I wasn’t sure if this was the right place or not.”

M'aiq looked up as he heard a voice speaking to him. He saw a Dunmer standing on the stairs. Family, thought M'aiq, he seems to know where he is, but the Khajiit must be cautious. Dunmer are sly creatures at times...not as much as a Khajiit though, eheh.
"So...the Dunmer seeks his family, does he? Well, he might be lucky enough to be the Khajiit's kin, maybe not. Let's see, what was that question they told the Khajiit to ask?"
M'aiq opened a drawer of his desk and a number of moths flew out of it. He waved them away and sifted through the drawer. Much metal clanking was heard as he pulled out dozens of pairs of calipers. He finally reached a small slip of paper with a bit of scrawling on it.
"Great," sighed M'aiq, "now he must read. Let's see...w-hhh-ate is the cole-or off ni-g-hhh-tuh? Oh! What is the color of night? Yes, M'aiq remembers now..."
He then looks to the Dunmer expectantly, fairly sure he would know the strange answer to the strange question.

While watching the khajiit dig through the desk I became distracted when I noticed two Golden Saints passed out on a table in a corner of the room. Then I heard the khajiit say words I have not heard in nearly sixty years. “What is the color of night?” is what I heard so I spoke thusly and proudly
“Sanguine, my dear brother and, from the bottom of my cold heart I say it again. Sanguine, my brother for it is the color of the night and Sithis is the void!”

(Lol. I switched tenses in my last post, whoops. Sorry.)
"Sanguine...oh, right, yeah, the Khajiit supposes that's how it's pronounced," he said with a shrug. "Well, the Khajiit's name is M'aiq. He's the Speaker for Leyawiin. The mer is welcome to the sanctuary."
He paused as he glanced over at the Golden Saints, one of whom started waking up. The Golden Saint groaned and sat up at the table, looking around for something to drink.
"Oh, those are the sanctuary...defenses. They're basically useless beings, but M'aiq must have them. You know, Dark Brotherhood protocol and whatnot. So...tell the Khajiit about yourself, Dunmer; M'aiq is good at pretending to listen."
He smiled at the elf and leaned back in his chair, folding his hands behind his head.

((That alright, it happens to the best of us.)) I smiled as I heard the speaker tell me I was correct even though I know I am. However his statement that perplexed me the most was ‘Tell me about yourself.’ I thought to myself for a moment to think of a suitable answer. Then I just blurted out.
“My name is Thanatos Crohaven. I come from the Dark Brotherhood in Mournhold capital city of Morrowind. I’m the Assassin rank within the Dark Brotherhood. I’m also rather good at making potions and poisons and, I study magic in my free time away from contracts.”
I told him as mush as I needed to tell him with out saying things I should not. Then I was slightly reminded of something once I saw one of the Golden Saints beginning to wake up.

(It gets confusing between M'aiq speaking in present third person to narrating in past third person, heh.)
M'aiq nods as he listens, actually taking in some of the details.
"From Morrowind, eh? Oh, M'aiq loves Morrowind. He lived there for a very long time. In Vvardenfell actually, but he once went to Mournhold. He wasn't in the Dark Brotherhood at the time. He was...uh, well finding some woman for the Duke mer. That's a whole 'nother story though."
M'aiq sat up in his chair and slipped the paper back into a drawer. He went through a different drawer in his desk and pulled out a bottle of Skooma.
After taking a quick swig, he asked Thanatos, "Did you come here for a reason or do you usually like going into old buildings? M'aiq likes going into old buildings. Sometimes they have calipers. Or Skooma!" He held up his bottle happily and took another drink.

((Yes and no. Yes because your switching between 3rd and 1st person. No, because I still understand even though your in a different tense then I am.))
As Speaker M’aiq spoke I nodded at what he said. For I myself had an idea of what he was talking about. As he was still speaking I leaned against the wall and crossed my arms with my mages staff leaned against the wall as well.
“To be honest with you Speaker I do enjoy old building. Because you never know what you’ll find in them. Personally I enjoy looking for history in them and, the possibility of finding books in them is rather high.”
I noted the skooma in his hands and thought about if he was really coherent or not. I guess we’ll soon find out.

(Well, as long as we understand...=P)
The Khajiit blinked and listened quietly, sipping at his Skooma.
"M'aiq doesn't care much for books. He only learned to read about a year ago actually. He's sure you couldn't tell though." The Khajiit smiled and chuckled a bit.
He held up a new bottle of Skooma and asked, "Care to partake, brother?"

((I'm bored. Hope no one minds me joining.))
Ralen didn't like Leyawiin, but she did like wandering around. Leyawiin had changed quite a lot since she had last been there, which was, say, two? three? years ago. Which was a long time for Imperials, with all their construction and renno-whasitcalledagain? work. Pfft. Ralen couldn't be bothered to understand strange, strange Imperials and their even stranger ways. Honestly. And they say Bosmer were wierd critters. Or was that about Khajiits?
Ah well.
Having a sudden, burning, itching desire to collect rocks and explore old buildings, Ralen found the way into the conveniently located Blackwood Company Hall. Strangely, what appeared to be bloodstains was smeared on the doorframe. Even more strangely, there were a few interesting-shaped rocks at the front door, as though someone wanted the Bosmer there.
Opening the door, Ralen stepped inside, seeing if more pretty rocks could be found. She made a complete circuit around the room, and found nothing interesting, which was disappointing.
It was then that Ralen noticed an old spooky staircase. Why did it look spooky? Well, because staircases that led underground to treasure and danger and other things (like spiders) are usually old and spooky. Do not question what you do not understand, young Padawan.
Oh wait. This isn't Star Wars.
Well anyway, to save a lot of tedious details like the creaking of the stairs and the sudden drop in the temperature etc., Ralen walked down, and to her surprise, found a Khajiit (like her dear sister, Shikura) and a Dunmer engaged in conversation.
Feeling a need to introduce herself, and feeling that it is not polite to eavesdrop, Ralen announced her prescence with, "Hi, I'm Ralen, how do you do?"

(The more the merrier. Teehee.)
M'aiq was surprised to see yet another person walking into the sanctuary. It wasn't just some person however; it was a Bosmer. A look of slight disgust briefly crossed M'aiq's face. He took a quick swig of Skooma to level his head.
"Ah, a Bosmer, how...something. The Khajiit wonders if the Bosmer came down the steps or fell through a crack..." He waved his hand dismissively before continued, "Khajiit no care. Why have you come, little mer?"

Ralen pondered briefly at the strange look that flashed across the Khajiit's face. Even though the odd little cat had told her that he did not care, she felt compelled, out of politeness, to answer his strange, strange question.
"I came down the stairs, of course. Why would I fall down through a crack? There's no crack up there that's big enough to let me fall through." The Bosmer pointed at the mostly un-cracked ceiling, pondering once again, this time at the strangeness of the Khajiit's questions. This one was even odder than dear Shikura.
"Yeah, and I came because I'm looking for rocks. You know, those hard minerals that are found all over Tamriel?" Ralen asked patiently, determined to make this odd Khajiit understand. "They're hard, like I said before, and come in all sorts of different shapes and colours, even though most of them are gray. Some of them are even sparkly! Here, I have one that's gray, and one that's not gray."
Ralen rummaged around in one of the pouches hanging from her belt, and then drew out two rocks. One of them, a plain, smooth gray pebble, and the other a rather rough and jagged stone that was almost tawny in colour.

She's talking to M'aiq like he's an Argonian or something, thought the Khajiit in slight frustration. He tapped his claw on his desk as he listened to the Bosmer go on and on. This was the kind of thing that M'aiq didn't like about Bosmer or humans. Oh, the endless talking. Usually about nothing.
What was this mer talking about? Rocks? Nothing M'aiq would be interested in. Suddenly, his ears perked upwards. He thought to himself, Did she just say sparkly? M'aiq likes sparkly things.
M'aiq plucked off his Colovian fur helm and played with it idly in his hands as he asked, "Perhaps the Bosmer has a shiny rock for M'aiq?"

Ralen stopped in mid-word as M'aiq finally spoke about shiny rocks. Nodding eaferly, the Bosmer dropped the two stones she currently held back into their respective pouches, and her hands rummaged around a little, before coming out of the pouch holding a small chip of diamond.
"Some Imperial dropped it." She said, with a wide grin.
