The Site Rules list was getting a little expansive, so I decided to just post a few extra rules regarding the creation of characters here. You must adhere to these guidelines, otherwise your character won't be accepted. I'll cross post a few of the rules from the other rule list regarding characters.
A lot of these rules are in place to ensure that everything stays nice and organized, and realistic. And all of them are in place to ensure that I keep what little sanity I have left. I'm sure someone will find a loophole, or come up with some asinine idea that will cause me to add to this list, but for now, just stick to these rules when it comes to characters.
Many thanks,
Lorren
Character Guidelines
- All characters must be of a race from the Elder Scrolls series. That being said, you can play almost any race from the series. Most people are going to go for the playable races from the games, and that's perfectly okay. But if you're looking for a little spice, you may like to try one of the rarer races of the universe. I'm not going to list them here, but you can find a list of races and their descriptions here. Note: we will not accept these races for right now, just because they make things way too complicated and are a little unrealistic for this plot. The races are: Imga, Sload, any Akaviri races (they wouldn't be coming to Tamriel anyway), Aedra, Daedra, and Ayleid (because they're extinct, however if you can come up with a clever enough story, I'll allow it.) Chimer are allowed just because there were, technically, still some left in Tribunal. Make sure you back these characters up with a good description and explanation for their life.
- All characters must have an interesting, detailed, and believable background. This was sort of detailed in the main rules list. Basically, your character sheet needs to detail your character's up until the point that you start playing, and it needs to explain when, how, and why they did and acquired everything they did. And the story needs to be BELIEVABLE. See number 6 in the RP rules for more detail on that. Use your better judgment, guys.
- Characters must stick to their original descriptions. For instance, if you say that your character has certain skills and certain weapons, you must stick to that. Your character can't be an Apprentice of Conjuration, and then suddenly turn up with Master Restoration spells in a random thread. If you want to add skills, or anything else to your character, it must be done in a thread with someone, like having someone train you in Restoration so that you get better, or whatever. Also, if you want your character to become a werewolf or a vampire, you need to inform the mods first, and there needs to be a scene describing how it happens. We don't want people randomly turning up as different creatures than they originally started. Just shoot someone a PM about it.
- All character applications must follow the pre-done application forms for the factions. You can find the application forms in the boards entitled "(Your Guild) Character Sheets". Please fill them out completely and thoroughly, and post them in that board with the subject including the name of your character.
- A note from our Listener, Kalikir: Use variety. Not every female character is a stubborn hard ass, and not every male character is some silent, brooding, strongman killer. Switch it up a little.
- A request from the Admin (me): No nouns for character names. In the past we've had a slew of characters named things like Shady, Silent, Shadow, ect. Unless these are nicknames used by other characters in dialogue, don't use them. Your character must have a real name. Speaker Silence is the last person allowed to constantly call their character by a noun. Now, if you have an Argonian and want to name it Runs-With-Speed or something, that's fine, because it's realistic. But people are not called Shady in real life. Let's be serious. Note: if your character already has a name like this, please give them a regular name, and just have the other one be their nickname.
