Name: Rannok the Dead Eyes
Real Name: Lev
Gender: Male
Age:??(having trouble here)
Race: Imperial/Nord
Rank: Silencer
Current place of Residence: Anywhere he sees fit... yeah, he's a hobo...
Mount: Not ever seen riding one
Weapons: Two Red and Black double-edged medium sized Daggers referred to as the Silencer's; these daggers are primarily used for close range combat. Two Red and Black single-edged katanas named Loki and Svimm, for combat against more than one enemy. A Small Daedric Throwing-Axe nicknamed "Reaver" he found by chance during a skirmish with the Mythic Dawn. (The Reaver, would look like something like this: planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/fms/Image.php?id=38987)
His last weapon is a concealed dagger hidden below the wrist on the gauntlet of his right arm. The blade remains sheathed until Rannok is ready to strike with it, in which case it springs forth from underneath his wrist. It is enchanted with a potent paralysis spell. His blades are usually coated in poison and he takes meticulous care of all his weapons.
Rannok is, as they say: “Armed to the teeth.”
Armour: Shrouded Armor with some personal modifications. It is somewhat darker than the standard issue brotherhood armor and it is made of separate pieces of strengthened leather (as opposed to the brotherhood raiment). Cuirass, greaves, boots, gloves etc... Rannok's armor provides adequate protection against weak blows, although he tends to rely on his speed for protection more so than armor.
Over his armor Rannok always wears a long jacket (reaches about the tops of his boots) with the sleeves cut off to the shoulder, the color varies depending on his assignment and how it best fits his surroundings. Having lost his face mask resembling the lower half of a skull, he now favors a red scarf that covers the lower half of his face. Rannok is also one for a hood when not in combat so as to somewhat conceal his unnerving eyes.
Normal clothes: Any clothes that blend in well to a crowd and hide his identity (concealment of daggers is also preferred)
Magic: An expert illusionist, he also dabbles in other magic’s as a personal hobby. However, he tends to fail in the other schools. He loves Alchemy, but can only boast some skill in it. His expert illusionary skills are the result of a curse he received during his earlier years. This is a skill that is greatly under appreciated. His eyes have a magical quality that is occasionally beneficial; that is to say, he has the partial ability to hypnotize his victims into witnessing their gruesome death. For the most part this isn’t actually a spell but way of forcing the mind to pay attention to it’s own fears and doubts. An Illusion, if you will. (hehe lame, I know)
Appearance: Dead Eyes’ stature is strong and he stands at about five-feet, ten-inches. He is well muscled due to his rigorous practice in combat for so long. The only parts of him visible when he is in full assassin’s garb are his eyes, which are white with a tint of green. Rannok's unique eyes are his most distinguishing trait.
When not masked, Rannok has a face that is a mixture of curves and angles. He considers himself to be very average looking, which he prefers, being an assassin and all. But the mixture of Nord and Imperial is very evident. His hair is such a dark shade of brown it might as well be considered black. He wore his hair short until recent events caused him to fall from grace and wallow in the depths of his twisted mind. It now grows wild and seems to be cut in an uneven manner, due to using one of his daggers.
Personality: By most he is considered a complete shell of a being. He takes orders without question and kills without remorse. A man of few words overshadowed by his own unstable mind. His vast knowledge in anatomy suggests a surgical background, which is evidently strange in a world full of adept healers. Rannok’s take on this would be “in order to kill, one must understand the body, and it’s weaknesses.”
He takes meticulous care of things he holds dear to him, namely his weapons, and is seen reading often. The only thing that seems to evoke any form of emotion in the cold killer is music. He absorbs it and can often be heard humming to himself in the sanctuary. His personality is not imposing but Rannok is one of the most lethal combatants that one would have to face. He casts the illusion of never being bested by any foe because he has a knack for being able to pick his fights. Dead Eyes revels in the act of combat! It is said he kills, because during the act, it makes him feel more 'normal' in the world's reality. More blatantly put, it makes the voices go away. Most seem to think his lack of stability is caused by the curse he received from a dark necromancer. In the case of Dead Eyes Rannok, Insanity is most definitely a virtue...
History: Rannok's parents were a virtuous couple. His father was a Nord named Jaska Fierce-Blade, enormous in size and strength. Rannok's mother was a beautiful Imperial woman named Daewyn (due to some mer ancestry) and she possessed a great intellect and strong ability in Magicka. Jaska had met Daewyn while she was traveling through Skyrim and fell in love with her at first sight. Daewyn was quick to return the love when she encountered Jaska's bashful attempts at courting her.
After they were wed, the couples first born "Lev" came along. Jaska gave his son the full name Leviathan, in hopes that the boy would grow to be as enormous and strong as his father. Despite the rigorous training Jaska put Lev through, using heavy weapons to build muscle, a "leviathan" he was not to be. The boy seemed to take after neither of his parents. This was in fact, because Lev took more after his grandfather, the famous bandit swordsmen Rannok Guilt-Blade, whose blades Lev would eventually inherit.
Daewyn had a longing to go back to her homeland of Cyrodil and Jaska obliged immediately and even acted excited at the prospect of a new life in Cyrodil. What Jaska failed to reveal to his beloved wife was that he resented the land because it was where his father resided, a man he had grown to resent. However it was in Cyrodil that Jaska would make his name. They moved to the town of Bruma, a place where Jaska felt more at home (due to is wintry climate) and it was there that he became a relic-hunter for the countess. There are many famous tales of his fierce battles for the prized relics he would unearth, but those are tales best heard from the older residents of the town. In Bruma they had another child who they named Elliswyn. Even in her first year of life, she took greatly after her mother.
Daewyn enlisted in the Mages guild and quickly rose in rank, eventually gaining access to the arcane university. It was there that she met the man Larknis Flagther, who would be the happy families bane. Larknis was a high-ranking member of the mages guild, but secretly practiced the art of necromancy and had become quite powerful by utilizing the dark art. He had fallen deeply in love with Daewyn and attempted to court her in Bruma, only to be brutally beaten and thrown out of the town by Jaska. The Necromancer was angry that he was caught off guard in his attempt of love. And so, a year later when Larknis Flagther was near Lichdom and known as "DeadWaker" he attacked the family in their sleep. He killed Jaska instantly and magically bound the freshly awoken Lev, to a chair while he finished his work with Lev's parents. Lev watched in terror as Larknis reanimated his father corpse and made the thing that was once Jaska, tear Daewyn apart, feasting on her flesh.
The Necromancers disgusting and cruel work became so fervent that the focus required to keep Lev bound to the chair dissipated. In a desperate attempt Lev jumped on Larknis’ back and gouged out the necromancer's right eye with a hunting knife his father had given him as a present at an early age. Blood and putrid energy spit forth from the necromancers destroyed eye-socket, giving him reason to flee. But only after he had forced Lev to stare directly into the place where his eye once was, corrupting the boy's mind with the dark energy and cursing him forever.
The boy awoke to his ignored sister's cries and the already decomposing corpses of his parents. He quickly fled Bruma with his baby sister in arm and without a word to any authorities as to what happened. Even passing through the main gates he was already battling his corrupt mind and trying to repress the wicked memories. It was a house devoid of life, full of sickening smells and sights that the Bruma guards would stumble upon days later.
Lev’s sister was raised in the household of family friends and given safety, as long as Lev could pay a large sum each month (eventually becoming the family's primary source of income). Money was no matter for Lev, as long as the one person he cared for most lived a happy life, free of the burden of insanity he had to face.
During the Oblivion crisis, Lev attempted to train to be a healer for the Church of the Nine, because his memories had turned him to cowardice in the face of trouble (more so in the fear of himself than what he was confronting) and healing was the only thing he could think of doing. Unfortunately, he discovered he had very poor skill in restoration and no amount of training could alter that. So the order decided to train him to be a surgeon where magicka failed. They also taught him to mix various potions, so he had some use in church doings. But even this, was an act of kindness, just another way to humor an orphan boy (A teenager at this point). Even so, most members of the church were quite unnerved by Lev's strange eyes and habit of humming. Lev was eventually kicked out when his unstable mind got the better of him and caused him to attack a church member, beating him to near-death.
The last encounter Lev had with a family member besides Elliswyn, was on his way to the Imperial city. He was ambushed by a group of bandits led by his grandfather, Rannok Guilt-Blade. Having an innate skill in combat, and having to fight to survive, Lev killed a bandit unarmed and using the dead bandit's sword, challenged the Bandit leader. Lev's grandfather accepted and they fought in single combat. To the Bandit's complete surprise Lev, bested Rannok Guilt-Blade. It wasn’t until after the confrontation that Lev discovered his Grandfather was known as Guilt-Blade because those who fought him were said to be destined to die by his blade. In defeat Lev's grandfather finally recognized his Grandson and entrusted him with his famous set of Red and Black Blades. Rannok Guilt-blade, as a last wish, requested that his Grandson execute him honorably. Lev obliged and was contacted by the Brotherhood shortly after, adopting his grandfather's name "Rannok" as his own in his new life as an assassin…
Rannok progressed in rank and eventually became the Silencer to the Speaker herself, developing a close relationship to the beautiful and deadly Kalikir. It wasn’t long before master and servant became romantically involved. Through this connection Rannok eventually discovered the corruption in his mind was a link to the chaos that is Sithis and the tides of madness eased on the shores of his mind. Kalikir had become someone he trusted other than Elliswyn and soon he confided the Listener in the existence of his younger sister. But all was not well, the Brotherhood was falling apart and after the Morag Tong’s legalization in Cyrodil, it became a force bent on its destruction.
It was only a matter of time before an assassin war shook the land…
More Recently: After the great battle of the Brotherhood against the Morag Tong, Rannok has all but disappeared, finally succumbing to his insanity due to the prospect of losing Kalikir. Rannok took many lives the day of the great battle, but when the smoke cleared he realized where he had failed. That was in protecting his Listener.
The Crazed Rannok has been presumed dead, but there are always wild rumors floating about…Rumors of death and vengeance…Rumors of a wicked creature, humming a song of death, with eyes that pierce the night…
