Name: Keyir Riyek The Sane One
Gender: Male
Race: Imperial
Rank: Murderer
Other Guilds: Mage's Guild, Magician
Weapons: Keyir Riyek's main weapon is his magic. Aside from that, he also carries a mage's staff. His mage's staff is enchanted with fire damage as well as an object to help him focus. It also doubles as a weapon and a walking stick. The Imperial has added his own touches, decorating the once-plain staff with runes of power which somewhat enchances his magic. Or so he claims.
Keyir almost always carries a sharp silver dagger or two, but rarely three. Almost everything he wears or uses is enchanted (except for mundane objects like his, say, spoon.)
Magicka: Too many spells to list. Keyir is a war mage, more skilled in the noble art of destruction and restoration than any other schools. Of course, he dabbles in the rest, but he has little interest in those areas. Except for the school of illusion. It's his next favourite after restoration. In destruction, he prefers fire and ice spells, and favours restore health spells in restoration.
Armor/Clothing: Mage robes. Keyir is fond of soft, velvety black robes with silver stitchings of runes of various kinds. He was, of course, given shrouded armor when he was initiated into the Dark Brotherhood but he rarely wears those. A silken cord of silver can sometimes be found around his waist, with various spell components dangling from it.
Horse: Teleportation spells rawk. Keyir borrows horses from stables when neccessary. He pays, of course.
Residence/Sanctuary: Leyawiin. Speaker Silence felt that M'aiq needed someone to help him keep a hold of his sanity. Or rather, what remains of his sanity. But Keyir can be found more often in the Mages Guild Halls or the Arcane University.
Appearance: A rather tall Imperial by Imperial standards. Keyir's skin is unusually pale, which stands out in stark contrast with the rest of him. His dark hair is soft and thick, falling to his shoulders. His eyes are also dark in colour, and look rather intense and thoughtful. He is slender, but not gaunt. Of course, he's not in the greatest physical condition but it's only to be expected. Keyir is a mage, after all, dedicated more to his studies.
Personality: Keyir's loyalty is to magic above all else, even Sithis and the Dark Brotherhood. To be completely honest, Keyir isn't terribly loyal to the Brotherhood. If it came down to a choice between the Mages Guild and the Dark Brotherhood, Keyir would probably choose the mages. But still, he's only been initiated recently, so it isn't much of a surprise.
Keyir is a complicated man. Although he can seem sharp, sarcastic and arrogant, he can also be wise and charming. It depends on a lot, really. Whether or not he likes you, for instance. Or whether or not you're a fellow mage. But there's no doubt about it. Keyir is loyal...to his Art, at least.
Cold and distant would also be good words to describe Keyir. He loves being alone, especially when studying his spells. Keyir normally has a rather cold and serious attitude, and it is extremely rare to see him smiling, unless it's a cynical smile. In fact, the only time when he 'warms up' is when he's casting a spell.
Like everyone in the Dark Brotherhood, Keyir is more than capable of killing in cold-blood.
History: Born in Chorrol to a family of 'upper-classed' Imperials. The rest of his family, his mother, father and brother were all skilled in magic, so it was no surprise when Keyir showed a talent for it too. In fact, his father once claimed that his ancestors had Breton blood in them. Keyir began learning spells practically as soon as he was able to read and write. But even in his childhood, he was seen as more cold and distant than the rest. As soon as he was old enough, Keyir was sent to a boarding mage school.
Of course, being a rather arrogant and distant young mage with a sharp tongue and too much intelligence for his own good, Keyir was almost universally disliked, even by his teachers. So it was no surprise that Keyir, while highly skilled, was more reclusive and sarcastic than ever. Considering his schoolmates of a lower class and level than him, Keyir ignored them at best, or used his cunning to 'prank' them at first. Too bad these pranks were dangerous.
It was the beginning of 'Keyir's road towards darkness', as the bards would say.
There was one little thing that happened though, which would become important later.
In his second year at the mage school, an Altmer called Jiaher enrolled. Keyir and Jiaher were friends at first, until Jiaher started surpassing him in Alchemy classes, then conjuration and so on, until the only classes where Keyir could claim to be the best at were Destruction, Restoration and Illusion. That ended their all-too-brief friendship, and the two became rivals, sometimes even enemies.
As soon as he was able to, Keyir left the mage school, to the joy of his schoolmates and teachers. The young Imperial stayed at his home for a few months, refining his techniques and learning from his relatives, before setting out to gain entrance the the Arcane University. Easier said than done.
After several tasks, some of which were quite ridiculous (such as locating a little fluffball Khajiit who got himself lost), Keyir was finally allowed to get into the Arcane University. His innate skills in magic were, finally, appreciated, even if his attitude was not.
((Insert several years journeying and completing tasks for his fellow mages.))
Perhaps Keyir would have continued through life as a mage of high-ranking had a certain Altmer not given an impassioned speech on why battlemages should be banned from certain parts of the Arcane University.
Barely controlling his rage at Jiaher, he who was once Keyir's friend, the Imperial slipped back to his quarters in the Arcane University. Keyir remembered all the feelings of resentment and hatred towards Jiaher.
The next thing he knew, Keyir was outside the Arcane University, tracking the Altmer and determined to make Jiaher pay. Of course, Keyir found his quarry. Using his illusion magicks to disguise himself (Jiaher was always hopeless at seeing through even the simplest of illusions), Keyir had the pleasure of watching his former friend's face as he fell, pierced through the heart by one of Keyir's daggers.
The fine for murdering a fellow guild member only applied if the deed was discovered, and Keyir was a cunning Imperial. Jiaher's body was never discovered. Perhaps the fact that Keyir had incinerated the body, bones and all, until only ashes remained had something to do with it.
Feeling tired suddenly, Keyir staggered to the nearest inn he could find and slept. Normally, he would have looked for a mages guild hall, but he didn't, for some strange, obscure reason...
When he awoke, a figure in black robes was next to his bed. The only thing Keyir saw of the figure was blazing green eyes.
The Imperial was given a chance to join the Dark Brotherhood. Keyir remembered the feeling of complete, absolute power as Jiaher fell, with his dagger buried in his chest. Keyir remembered the feeling of ectasy, which rivaled even when he cast the strongest of his spells...
Keyir accepted.
