A faction that presents itself in the Elder Scrolls gaming series, the Morag Tong is a legal assassin's guild that presides mainly in the province of Morrowind, and as such is introduced in that game.
The Tong was put into place by the Empire as a way of formal execution. It hands out legally approved contracts called writs, which can fall into one of three categories: Public, Private, and House War. There is also the potential for what are called "grey writs", which are illegal contracts given to only the most trusted and honorable of members, and require the utmost skill and secrecy.
In Morrowind, you join the Tong by seeking them out in an obscure section of the Arena District in Vivec, and only when you prove yourself worthy by completing an initiation writ are you allowed in.
It seems in the games that the Tong does not stretch any further than the boundries of Morrowind. However, this is not the case with us. The Morag Tong has rooted itself deeply into Tamriel's other provinces, where it is not quite as welcome as it was in Morrowind. Almost as distrusted as the Brotherhood in some parts, its members must act with utmost caution, lest they find themselves under the attack of the Legion, or their Sithis-worshiping enemies.
If you think you have what it takes to serve Mephala, seek them out and prove your worth. Carefully though, for the work of an assassin is never easy, and you may just find yourself becoming the assassinated.
Morag Tong Ranks:
Associate
Blind Thrall
Thrall
White Thrall
Thinker
Brother
Knower
Master
Exhalted Master
Grandmaster
Morag Tong Rules:
- Do not steal from another member, lest you loose the hands that took what was not yours
- Do not disgrace the guild, lest you be branded for that disgrace
- Do not kill another member, lest you yourself be killed
- Do not aid our enemies, lest your traitorship destroy you
- Do not speak ill against Mephala, lest you find yourself at her mercy in the realm of Oblivion
