Gerich, in his dark clothing, was on assignment. He was to steal an artifact from the Arcane University in an attempt to get the Imperial Legion's attention off of the Waterfront. Why do they always hunt the Gray Fox when there are bigger fish to hunt? This question haunted Gerich since he joined the Theives Guild, and he knew it would continue to.
As he got towards the gate leading to the Arcane University, he noticed how few guards there were. They took the Battlemages out of the University to help hunt the Fox. What a mistake. Gerich looked down towards the Waterfront, noticing the many guards running around the Tower and towards the shadier part of the Waterfront.
He continued his walk, keeping out anything that would distract him. He entered through the gates, greeting the few apprentices nearby. They just looked at him suspiciously and walked on.
Gerich didn't mind, though, for he was always treated this way. He was so distracted as his mind raced through his past in the Mage's Guild that he didn't notice Raminus Polus as he crashed into him.
"Arax Matador. Why have you returned to us?" Raminus asked suspiciously as he noticed Gerich's clothing.
Gerich looked confused at first before remembering he changed his identity. They remember me as Arax, just like the others.. Gerich still couldn't believe he was no longer a member of the Dark Brotherhood, but he knew it was for the best.
"I have come to ask if I may possibly rejoin the Guild?" Gerich asked, knowing he couldn't get up to the upper levels of the University unless he regained his rank.
"Why do you wish to return to us after three years? Do you truly wish to return to your training?" Raminus asked, still looking suspicious. Gerich could only nod and smirk as he remembered how Raminus treated him before.
"Still suspicious as always, are we, Raminus?" Gerich could only smirk in amusement. "Yes, I would like to continue my training, if I possibly could."
"Then you will be admitted. The Archmage knew you would return, and he told me that, although you wouldn't have to prove yourself this time, the next time you will have to return with alchemical ingredients." Raminus said as Gerich took out a pouch, holding twenty dragon tongues.
"I brought these for him, Raminus. I believe this would be the equivalent of being readmitted?" Gerich handed over the Dragon Tongues to a shocked Raminus.
"Yes, this will be enough. You may enter the University as you must. If you can, speak with the Archmage soon." Raminus said as he walked away.
Gerich watched Raminus leave before entering the Arcane University, and then using the portal to get to the Archmage's room.
The Archmage was not there, but the artifact he needed was. Gerich took out the note that the Gray Fox told him to leave, and he picked up Hromir's Icestaff. He then proceeded to leave the room.
He was about to leave the Arcane University when the Archmage returned. The Imperial grinned at Gerich as he led him back into the University.
"Welcome back, Arax; or should I say Gerich?" The Archmage asked as he saw Gerich's look of shock. "I always knew you would be back," The Archmage said as he sat down on one of the benches in the lower level of the University.
Gerich looked at him suspiciously. It seemed like he had something planned for Gerich. He didn't want to know how the Archmage knew about his new identity, he would ask him some other time. "Thank you Archmage. Is there something you need?"
"Yes, Gerich. I have an offer for you," The Archmage wasn't suprised by the look Gerich gave him, one of confusion. "I would like for you to join the Imperial Legion as a Battlemage."
"No. I will never join them, Archmage. I am sorry, but I must refuse this offer," Gerich said in cold fury.
He had a feeling that was what the Archmage wanted, but he couldn't bring himself to fight against the Dark Brotherhood, Crimson Scar, and the Morag Tong. It would make his latest attempts to change his ways go awry.
"I was afraid you would say that. No matter, if you ever reconsider let me know. That will be all." The Archmage looked disappointed as he shook Gerich's hand and went onto the portal.
Gerich watched him depart before sprinting back to the Talos Plaza. He needed to get the Icestaff to his contact before it was too late.
Too many distractions have already come up, no need for anymore.
(Btw, the Archmage doesn't need to be an Imperial or a man. I just assumed the Archmage would be. That and if you don't think Raminus should be alive, well, he is for this post. )
